Looks like you and your wife had a wonderful time. Lots of food, dancing and a walk to get the calories burned off. The band looked like fun. I could almost smell the clean fresh air. It's nice being away from the bigger cities at times.

TYour piost is lovely as usual, but it also reminds me that I have to go and see Melialissa again. I'm much too busy with things other than blogging!

It looks so picture-perfect here that it's almost unreal--like a stage set or something. It would be nice to spend summers here, I bet!

I guess I am a very lucky person Gil. Except for the thatched roof that looks like my home. Sorry you have had to visit the "beach" three times. A fresh post will be up tomorrow although it's a pink one. :) Have a wonderful weekend.

Nice to see Mrs Trotter enjoying the sun! No doubt while you were still at the dining table?

Glad you are enjoying "Rooflines" (so am I).

Shantanu said...

What a fantastic place. All of those sculptures lying around provides an additional interesting twist to a picture-perfect setting!

Dina said...

Great place for lunch. Just the roof alone would be enough for the exotic beauty prize.
Thanks for the picture of the Karaim down below. I've never really seen photos of them.

Enjoyed your photographs here as well. Incidentally are the wooden sculpture a memorial pillar (often placed over the graves by tribals). In many parts of India such pillars could be encountered in the deep woods.

Hi Folks! Lovely to read you here as always! The heat has come together with the work, and that is a terrible combination... 01 a.m. and the temperature outside is 25º Celsius... I would love to be by the lake or, better, on the beach... ;))

Olivier,

Z,
You’re right: that’s a thatched roof!

HitchWriter,
Come on, no need to be jealous; I’m stuck here… ;))

Barb,
I fully agree. We had a great time and it was wonderful: first the location; then the meal and the party; and finally, being away from a great city…

Richie,
Thanks for your visit and first time comment! It’s always a great pleasure to get acceptance and furthermore from fellow lovers of travel side!!! Xoxo

Hélène,
Why the UN before the HPY? Are you joining the United Nations or just feeling sad? Come on, make it feel better!!

Jen,
It’s true that sometimes it almost look like a stage set; absolutely incredible all that green; and the weather was perfect!!

Susu,
Must confess that we could hardly see food when they came with the cake… But we kept a slice for your next visit to Portugal! ;)

Alice SG,
The sun was hot and, as I’m from a Southern Europe country, I didn’t have my meal under the sun but instead under the trees… Anyhow, we can’t compare the heat in Lithuania with the heat in Singapore, as it lacks the humidity. But I’m suspect because I feel that your wonderful country has the most awful weather I know… :-(

Tony,
Thanks for your visit and first time comment here! Look forward to seeing you back often!!

Lady’s,
Thanks! A place rather to live than to die; actually, don’t feel that there are nice places to die… ;)

Lynn,
Amazing that you have a thatched roof; advantages of a house over an apartment… ;). No problem to visit you three times on the beach: I actually went to the beach on Thursday, Friday and Saturday last week… ;))
Will check your fresh post as soon as possible!

Leo,
That was a superb green, even for a fanatic of the blue colour… ;) There were no birthdays, but there were sparklers... ;)

Pietro,
I’m glad that you enjoyed and happy that it feels like a vacation to you also!!

Kven,
Sorry to read that your grandmother passed away! That’s the normal way, but it feels that we are never prepared!
I wonder who owns the cottage; maybe the rower that came close to the restaurant to check how our party was going on...

Peter,
I’ve noticed that there were many bloggers heading to Paris and joining your tours, even if the oysters are gone... ;) We’ll have to make it also, but things are getting tough here with my parents summing 179 years old... Hard to be away!
Look amazing this landscape, doesn’t it?

Indrani,
You couldn’t be more accurate... ;)

Rakesh,
Great that you’re soul filled as we were truly stomach filled with this incredible lunch after the sumptuous «pre-lunch»... ;))

Ms.N,
I loved to read you back here. That’s a truly idyllic location!! Xoxo

Stuart,
That was a bit too much sun; the throat pain came only later... ;)
The Rooflines series is wonderful! It could be «Songlines», like in Australia, but we should leave it to Chatwin...

Shantanu,
It’s amazing the amount of wooden sculptures they leave in the fields; they make an awesome impression when you stroll around!!

Dina,
The thatched roof is first class! I’m glad you enjoyed seeing the picture of the Karaim in the Trakai Castle! Thanks for remembering the Santo António of Lisbon Day. Great parties also, and a huge amount of grilled sardines in the less sophisticated neighbourhoods of town... ;))

Trotter said...

Second Part to match Blogger requirements... ;)

Dsole,
Wow! Great to read you again here!! Chaotic life and too hot weather here... It almost looks like Madrid; and Ronaldo hasn’t arrived yet... ;))
Things aren’t getting worse; how about you?

JoAnn,
Dear, the green you see it’s Lithuania, some four thousand kilometres far from Lisbon... I know you love Portugal, but I remember you rather with sand on the Algarve beaches that on the green northern part of the country... ;))
Thanks for the compliments; I’m thrilled!!

Mariposa,
Guida is acknowledging the compliment!! You’re too kind!

Paz,
Great to read it: so you should join our food enjoying group... ;)
Thanks for the congratulations!

Baron,
It was a wonderful picnic and you’re absolutely right about the ambiance, which was superb!!

Rhonda,
Lovely to read you again! I wish you had a great time in New York! OK! We may also change; you go to Lithuania and I try NYC. Miss it so much!! ;(

Ron,
Quite peaceful; sure you could handle that!! Congrats on the Penguins victory!!

Pat,
That’s an awesome location indeed!! Many celebrations, many holidays, tough return to real life... ;))

Gattina,
I feel you’re hearing Julie Andrews and the Story of the Trapp Family singers, also known as The Sound of Music... ;))

Diane,
We’re in Lithuania, June 2008; just finishing... ;) Usually I don’t post much on Portugal; live here for too much time... ;))

Magiceye,
You’re absolutely correct!
I’ll check your new blog as soon as possible; but I don’t have a pet to show. Sorry! ;(

Subramanian,
It could be that the pillars are memorials; but I don’t think they are on any graves; just around any corner in the woods!!

Lara,
Fully agree with you; there should be much more places like that for us to enjoy!!

Maria,
Must confess that didn’t try the cake; had already had too much food when it arrived... ;))

Eye,
You’re welcome to try it... ;)

Contance,
Banjos yes, but in Lithuania, not in Portugal! ;)

M.Kate,
Thanks! You’re too lovely! Xoxo!!
Wow, at least some one is already packing for the next trip. But bring an umbrella; summer has surprises... ;))

Medam,
Thanks; you’re always so kind when you comment here. I’m delighted!!

Daniel,
That band was amazing and we had a lot of fun with the entertainers... ;))

G@tto,
I told you, didn’t I? ;))

Rajesh,
I share your feelings!

Norman,
I try! It can’t be law books all the time... ;)

Lakshmi,
You’re welcome to join the party; it’s one year later, but what can we do? ;)
