Following suggestions from some Daily Photo visitors included in the comments to my last post, I'm trying to reduce the size of each post and split the pictures taken in one trip all the way through several posts. I've already done that for example with regard to the 2004 Santiago Chile, Easter Island and French Polynesia trip. But this time I'll try to post fewer pictures on each page. Hope it will work, and the unity of the journey doesn’t get lost... Anyhow, I'll keep the previous layout at Blogtrotter - The 70s & 80s as well as in Blogtrotter Revival - The 90s, which I believe will be an appropriate compromise!

SUGNENS
I've already mentioned Sugnens on this blog. It is home to our cousins Luisa and Jean-Pierre as well as the location for the Auberge de Sugnens, a very nice restaurant...

"VIEW - Sugnens is a Swiss village located 15 km north of Lausanne and it's said to have 266 inhabitants (End of 2006). 93.6% of the habitants speak French, 3% German and 1.3% Italian. It belongs to the district of Echallens in the Canton of Vaud"

"ESMERALDA IN SUGNENS- The replica of the Chilean Training Ship Esmeralda, the second tallest and longest sailing ship in the world, was bought by Jean-Pierre to its maker on a street of Las Condes, Santiago Chile. The replica looks beautiful but the reputation of the real one is not so nice: Reports describe the ship as a kind of a floating jail-torture chamber for political prisoners of the military regime from 1973 to 1980..."

YVERDON-LES-BAINS
Yverdon-les-Bains, the seat of the district of Yverdon of the canton of Vaud in Switzerland, is located in the heart of a natural setting formed by the Jura mountains, the plains of the Orbe, the hills of the Broye and the Lake Neuchâtel. It is famous for its thermal springs.

"PESTALOZZI - Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi (January 12, 1746 – February 17, 1827) was a Swiss pedagogue and educational reformer who lived in Yverdon from 1805 through 1825. The statue is quite neat to the Temple, a Protestant church (the yellow building on the right) erected in 1757"

MURTEN/MORAT
Murten (in German; in French, Morat - the town's name is derived from the Celtic word moriduno, meaning «lakeside fortress») is a small medieval town located on the southern shores of Lake Morat (Murtensee), between Berne and Lausanne, and is the capital of the Lake District of the canton of Fribourg. Lake Morat is a smaller lake located in between Lake Biel and Lake Neuchâtel.

"BERNTOR - Murten is one of the best preserved of Switzerland's medieval towns, and is still encircled by its fifteenth-century walls. The main eastern gate is the Berntor, or Porte de Berne, with a distinctive clock face"

"OLD TOWN - Today Murten doesn't offer much to do other than strolling on medieval streets and sipping drinks at cafés with terraces providing wonderful views to the Lake. Murten's Old Town is a three-street affair, full of hotels whose rear terraces afford beautiful views across the lake to the Vully vineyards, bars and eateries... You may see some more photos of Murten at John's blog"
