This is the second (and last) part of my most recent visit to the MoMA! The sequence was essentially based on the dates of the death of the artists for those who are no longer with us and the date of birth for those who are still alive! Hope you enjoy!

A wonderful choice! Next time Centre Pompidou?

I like that you give just the first names. That way, I can quiz myself, to see how many of the artists I can name.. :-)

Very nice! I see the nice picture of the Campbell's soup cans from Andy. Did you ever see Andy Warhol's museum in Pittsburgh? It's fanstastic.

This series has been a fabulous one,Gil. The art work, the lighting and the shots of the exhibit rooms & the building itself - everything is perfectly composed & lit.
Have a great weekend & thanks for your visit!

Great post. I like "Francis" the best out of these exhibits. Some paintings that get such wonderful praise and raves just totally baffle me though. So many of them look like a young child went nuts with the finger paints. Yet some of the really beautiful ones never get the recognition they deserve. For instance, I don't particularly care for Andy Warhol. To me, there was nothing artistic about his work. Sorry if I offend anybody. No offense intended.

This is a wonderful and extremely interesting post.
I hope to enjoy it better (and the previous post too) next week, when I'll have a better connection.
Have a nice day!

Beautiful artworks. I love the photo of the eye with the cloud in the background. Fantastic.

Thank you for the trip around MoMa! I cannot see that Rene Magritte picture (or a copy naturally) without thinking of Paul Simon. So now you have started a song in my head.
On the the other hand - Andy Warhol's soup cans make me of a former American election campaign...

Your MOMA images just reminded me to sign up for membership. I used to have a poster of Magritte's False Mirror in my first apartment.

If you're planning a visit in the near future, be sure to make reservations at The Modern.... main dining room only.

Now I don't think I want to leave this place, absolutely fascinating & fabulous - so captivating!!! :D

Love MoMA. It's one of my favorite museums in NYC.

Went to Picasso's Collection in Brisbane when I was home - fabulous!!!

Thistlemoon said...

who doesn't love the MOMA? Always something for everyone!

Olivier said...

Hallo GIL,
What a fantastic post, did you know that I love paint -or other arts, (or did you not know?)anyhow I enjoyed watching this MoMa very much , I know almost all painters, or I've seen most of their paintings all around the world.

We are still in France, and travelling around while we are visiting Chateau's, or better we stay in this Chateau's/Castels instead of Hotels, thats really a charming way of "celebrating" vacation, ( watch your weight too!!!) But bring lots of books or (like we do) drive around in the nearby area of the Castels, thats great!!!!

I posted most of the surroundings on my blog, Hope to see you there...

Au Revoir and I hope you like to visit my blog, ( I was having NO INTERNET, most of the time, so now I took the change to visit you, I hope you understan that I could not visit a lot?

Bye JoAnn ( NOw in France)

Well, these works are old friends for me, but its goo to see them all stunningly photographed here. I hope you took time to catch all the neat views of NYC the new museum building's windows frame - like living paintings in the midst of the great collection.

Peter,
I think Centre Pompidou has already been posted somewhere. Oh, yes: here!

Z,
The idea was to make it a bit friendlier, but also to leave some space for imagination… ;))

Ron,
Have never been to Pittsburgh, though I’ve seen some of Warhol’s works in museums around the world! Maybe one day I’ll have the chance to get to Pittsburgh… ;))

You’re not that far… ;))

Lisa,
Bacon is a difficult guy; but if you like it, I wouldn’t challenge it… ;))

Please feel at home; great pleasure to read you here!

Merci! Pas arriéré, mais bien charmante… ;))

Joy,
I understand you quite well… ;))

I like the moma sculpture. My favorite paintings are the "Rene" and "Marc". I really like the "Henri" one from yesterdays post to with the lion.
But, I don't get the one you have listed as paintings in this post with the three on the wall with nothing on them. Not sure why they do that.

Anonymous said...

Barb,
OK, Magritte, Chagall and Matisse, that's good taste; as for «the paintings» (sorry to have forgotten the artist's name), the idea may be to let you imagine what you see... !??
